Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the transfer case assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Transfer Case Assembly Replacement .

    IMPORTANT: The transmission mount DOES NOT have to be removed to perform the following service procedure.
  3. Remove the transmission mount bolts.

  5. Install a transmission jack under the transmission.
  6. Lift the transmission just high enough to remove the transfer case adapter.

  8. Remove the transfer case adapter mounting bolts from the transmission.

  10. Remove the transfer case adapter from the transmission.

  12. Remove the transfer case adapter seal.
