Removal Procedure

CAUTION: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
  1. Open and support the endgate window.
    NOTE: Refer to LIFTGATE ASSIST ROD NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Remove the retainer from the hinge pin at the upper end of the endgate window strut.

    Discard the retainer.

  3. Remove the hinge pin from the upper end of the endgate window strut.

    Discard the hinge pin.

  4. Lift up the retainer clips on the endgate window struts using a small flat- bladed tool.
  5. Remove the lower end of the endgate window struts from the ball joint.
  6. Remove the endgate window struts from the endgate window.
