Removal Procedure

CAUTION: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
  1. Open and support the liftgate.
    NOTE: Refer to LIFTGATE ASSIST ROD NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Lift up the retainer clips on the liftgate struts using a small flat-bladed tool.

  3. Remove the upper end of the liftgate struts from the ball joint.
  4. Remove the lower end of the liftgate struts from the ball joint.
  5. Remove the liftgate struts from the liftgate.
