Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sonoma, 2003 GMC Jimmy, 2003 Chevrolet S10 Pickup, and 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the latch rod to the slot in the latch/support cable assembly.
  2. Install the latch assembly to the endgate.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the bolts retaining the endgate latch assembly to the endgate.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the latch assembly bolts to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

  4. Connect the endgate support cable to the striker bolt through the keyhole slot.
  5. Install the endgate handle. Refer to HANDLE REPLACEMENT - END GATE (UTILITY)  or HANDLE REPLACEMENT - END GATE (PICKUP) .
  6. Install the endgate bedliner. Refer to PICKUP BOX BEDLINER REPLACEMENT .
