Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sonoma, 2003 GMC Jimmy, 2003 Chevrolet S10 Pickup, and 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the dome lamp. Refer to DOME LAMP REPLACEMENT (PICKUP) or DOME LAMP REPLACEMENT (UTILITY) in Lighting Systems.
  2. Remove the coat hooks. Refer to COAT HOOK REPLACEMENT (EXTENDED/CREW CAB PICKUP)  or COAT HOOK REPLACEMENT (STANDARD CAB PICKUP)  or COAT HOOK REPLACEMENT (UTILITY) .
  3. Remove the passenger assist handle. Refer to ASSIST HANDLE REPLACEMENT .
  4. Remove the sunshades and the retainers. Refer to SUNSHADE REPLACEMENT .
  5. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - WINDSHIELD PILLAR .

  6. Pull the body side trim panels loose at the roof line.
  7. Use the following steps in order to remove the headliner from the vehicle:
    1. Grasp the headliner at the front.
    2. Use a downward motion in order to disengage the hook and the loop fasteners at the rear.
    3. Slide the headliner foreword, past the body side trim panels.
