Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE in General Information.
  2. Remove the front door body side molding. Refer to MOLDING REPLACEMENT -FRONT DOOR BODY SIDE (CHEVROLET)  or MOLDING REPLACEMENT -FRONT DOOR BODY SIDE (GMC PICKUP)  or MOLDING REPLACEMENT -FRONT DOOR BODY SIDE (GMC UTILITY) .
  3. Drill out the rivets using a 1/4 inch drill bit.
  4. Remove the retaining plate.
