Starter Solenoid (6.6L Engine): Removal

- Remove the starter motor. See STARTER .
- Reposition the M-terminal stud weather cover. See Fig 1 .
- Clean the epoxy coating from the M-terminal stud.
- Loosen the M-terminal stud nut. See Fig 2 .
- Remove the cable from the M-terminal stud.
- Remove the solenoid bolts. See Fig 3 .
- Separate the solenoid from the housing and unhook the solenoid plunger from the drive gear lever. See Fig 4 .
- Note that the spring is positioned against the drive gear lever and the drive gear lever is placed inside the solenoid plunger loop. See Fig 5 .
- Remove the solenoid housing. See Fig 6 .
- If necessary, remove the solenoid plunger and spring. See Fig 7 .
