Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sonoma, 2003 GMC Jimmy, 2003 Chevrolet S10 Pickup, and 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply sealant to the oil drain plug threads. Use sealant GM P/N 12346004  or the equivalent.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Using J 36511  install the oil drain plug.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil drain plug to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  3. Fill the transmission to the level of the fill plug hole. Refer to LUBRICATION SPECIFICATIONS .

  4. Apply sealant to the oil fill plug threads. Use sealant GM P/N 12346004 or the equivalent.

  5. Using J 36511  install the oil fill plug.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil fill plug to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE in General Information.
