Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the shift lever handle and boot. Refer to FLOOR SHIFT CONTROL BOOT REPLACEMENT .
  2. Remove the center console assembly. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT -- FRONT FLOOR (FULL LENGTH (AUTO TRANS)) or CONSOLE REPLACEMENT -- FRONT FLOOR (FULL LENGTH (ENVOY)) or CONSOLE REPLACEMENT -- FRONT FLOOR (NON-FULL LENGTH) or CONSOLE REPLACEMENT -- FRONT FLOOR (FULL LENGTH (MANUAL TRANS)) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Disconnect the range selector cable from the shift control assembly. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION RANGE SELECTOR CABLE REPLACEMENT (COLUMN SHIFT)  or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION RANGE SELECTOR CABLE REPLACEMENT (CONSOLE SHIFT) .

  4. Remove the nuts securing the shift controller to the floor panel.
  5. Remove the shift control assembly from the vehicle.
