Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sonoma and 2003 Chevrolet S10 Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the engine mount.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the engine mount stud, bolts, and the starter support.

    Tighten 

    • Tighten the engine mount bolts to 54 N.m (40 lb ft).
    • Tighten the engine mount stud to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).

  3. Install the engine mount through-bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine mount through-bolt to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

  4. Remove the engine lifting device.

  5. Install the engine mount shield and the bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the shield bolt to 11 N.m (97 lb in).

  6. Raise the vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General Information.
  7. Install the battery positive cable through the engine mount.
  8. Install the bolt holding the battery positive cable to the engine.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

  9. Install the starter. Refer to STARTER MOTOR in Starter.

  10. Install the left side transmission support brace and bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Battery.
