Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sonoma and 2003 Chevrolet S10 Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the flywheel.
  2. Install the flywheel spacer if a flywheel spacer is used.

    Important:  You must thoroughly remove the old thread adhesive from the flywheel bolts and bolt holes. Use a round nylon bristle brush in order to remove the old adhesive.

    Apply Loctite® 271 GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent to all flywheel bolts. Carefully follow the instructions that are included with the thread locking compound in order to ensure that the bolts are retained properly.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the flywheel bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the flywheel bolts to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).

  4. Install the clutch assembly, if equipped. Refer to CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT in Clutch.
  5. Install the transmission.
