Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sonoma, 2003 GMC Jimmy, 2003 Chevrolet S10 Pickup, and 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important:  The following service procedure is for vehicle equipped with AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ONLY. Vehicle equipped with manual transmissions are NOT equipped with a transfer case adapters.

  1. Remove the transfer case assembly. Refer to TRANSFER CASE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT  .
  2. Use a suitable transmission jack stand, support the automatic transmission.

  3. Remove the transfer case adapter mounting bolts.
  4. Remove the transfer case adapter from the transmission.
  5. Remove the transfer case adapter seal.

  6. Remove the transfer case gasket.
