Vehicle Speed Sensor (4L80-E - Output): Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 GMC Sierra, 2002 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, and 2002 GMC C3500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: This procedure is for 2WD vehicles. If the vehicle is equipped with 4WD, the output speed sensor is located on the transfer case.

Raise and support the vehicle. Disconnect the output speed sensor (2) electrical connector. See Figure. Remove the output speed sensor bolt. Remove the output speed sensor (2) and the bracket assembly from the case. Inspect the output speed sensor assembly (2) for any evidence of damage.
