Assembly & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 GMC Sierra, 2002 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, and 2002 GMC C3500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install new seals on all the 2-4 servo pistons and the cover. See Fig 7.
  2. Install the servo cushion spring and the cushion spring retainer in the 2nd apply piston. Use the Piston Remover to compress the second apply piston. Install the second apply piston retaining ring. See Fig 6.
  3. Install the following parts:
    • 2nd apply piston pin.
    • Spring.
    • Washer.
    • Retainer ring.
  4. Install the following parts:
    • Servo return spring.
    • 4th apply piston.

    See Fig 5 and Fig 6 .

  5. Lower vehicle. Fill transmission with appropriate fluid to proper level. See LUBRICATION .
