Fasten Safety Belt Indicator
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The IPC illuminates the fasten safety belt indicator when the following occurs:
- The inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) detects that the driver's seat belt is unbuckled. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the SDM requesting illumination. The IPC illuminates the indicator for 20 seconds and then flashes the indicator for 55 seconds. The IPC also sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate the audible warning.
- If the seat belt is unfastened and the indicator times out due to shifting the vehicle into gear, then the indicator will be on for 20 seconds and then the indicator will flash for 55 seconds.
- If the driver unfastens the driver seat belt anytime during the ignition cycle the telltale turns on for 20 seconds and followed by the indicator flashing for 55 seconds.
