Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Open the endgate.
  3. Remove the endgate trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - END GATE  .
  4. Remove the water deflector. Refer to WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - END GATE  .
  5. Disconnect the endgate latch rod from the bellcrank. Refer to BELLCRANK REPLACEMENT - END GATE  .
  6. Remove the endgate latch bolts from the endgate latch.
  7. Slide the endgate latch forward and disconnect the end gate latch rod from the endgate.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the endgate latch.
  9. Remove the endgate latch from the vehicle.
