Forward Servo (4T65-E): Removal

- Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the rack and pinion and hang from the exhaust pipe. See appropriate POWER RACK & PINION article in STEERING.
- Remove the power steering return hose from the rack and pinion and hang from the exhaust pipe. See appropriate POWER RACK & PINION article in STEERING. Support the transaxle with a transaxle support stand.
- Remove the rear transaxle mount and bracket bolts then position the mount and bracket aside. See appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article. Position a drain pan under the forward servo cover.
- Using a long screwdriver in order to pry against the vehicle frame. Hold the servo assembly compressed. See Fig 1 . Remove the 3 bolts attaching the servo cover to the transaxle case. See Fig 2 .
- Remove the long screwdriver. The servo assembly will push the servo cover out. If the servo cover does not push out, tap it with a rubber mallet.
- Remove the forward servo cover O-ring. Remove the servo piston assembly. Remove the servo spring.
