Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT  .
  2. Remove the generator. Refer to GENERATOR .
  3. Remove the generator bracket.
  4. Disconnect the engine right side spark plug wires. Refer to SPARK PLUG WIRES .
  5. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the evaporative emissions (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve.
  6. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to EVAP CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID .

  7. Remove the ignition module bracket with the coils.
  8. Remove the vacuum hose from the grommet in the engine right side valve rocker arm cover.

  9. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  10. Remove the valve rocker arm cover and gasket.
  11. Clean the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to VALVE ROCKER ARM COVER CLEANING AND INSPECTION .
  12. Clean the valve rocker arm cover gasket sealing surfaces on the cylinder head and the lower intake manifold.
