Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct.
  2. Remove the engine mount struts. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - LEFT  and ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - RIGHT  .
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4. Remove the catalytic converter pipe from the engine right side exhaust manifold.
  5. Remove the right front wheel and tire.
  6. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT -- ENGINE .
  7. Remove the engine mount bracket-to-oil pan bolts.
    NOTE: In order to avoid oil pan damage and possible engine failure, insert a block of wood that spans the width of the oil pan bottom between the oil pan and the jack support.
  8. Insert a block of wood between the utility stand and the oil pan.
  9. Use the utility stand in order to raise the oil pan.

  10. Remove the engine mount upper nuts.
  11. Remove the engine mount bracket from the engine mount.
