Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If the cylinder head is being replaced, perform the following steps:
  2. Install the cylinder head gasket.

  3. Install the cylinder head.

  4. Install the new cylinder head bolts.

    Tighten 

    1. 4.1. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 60 N.m (44 lb ft),
    2. 4.2. Use a torque angle meter in order to rotate the cylinder head bolts 95 degrees.
  5. Install the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to EXHAUST CROSSOVER PIPE REPLACEMENT .
  6. Install the pushrods and valve rocker arms. Refer to VALVE ROCKER ARM AND PUSH ROD REPLACEMENT  .
  7. Install the upper and lower intake manifolds. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - LOWER  and INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - UPPER  .

  8. Fill the engine with new engine oil. Refer to ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT  .
  9. Install the battery negative cable to the battery.
  10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
