Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply sealer GM P/N 12345739 or the equivalent to the keyway of the crankshaft balancer.
  2. Install the crankshaft balancer into position over the key in the crankshaft.
  3. Use the J 29113  in order to install the crankshaft balancer to the crankshaft.
  4. Remove the J 29113  from the crankshaft balancer.

  5. Install the crankshaft balancer washer and the NEW crankshaft balancer bolt.

    Tighten 

    1. 5.1. Tighten the bolt to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).
    2. 5.2. Use a torque angle meter in order to rotate the bolt 72 degrees.
  6. Use the utility stand in order to raise the frame/powertrain.
  7. Install the frame right side bolts.
  8. Install the engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT -- ENGINE .
  9. Install the right front tire and wheel.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Install the drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT  .
