Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Lubricate the high pressure relief valve O-ring. Refer to O-RING REPLACEMENT  .
  2. Install the high pressure relief valve to the A/C compressor.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the valve to 12 N.m (9 lb ft).

  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4. Remove the cap or tape from the A/C compressor suction port and suction hose end fitting.
  5. Install a new seal washer to the suction hose end fitting. Refer to SEALING WASHER REPLACEMENT  .
  6. Connect the suction hose to the A/C compressor.
  7. Install the suction hose to A/C compressor nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  8. Install the air baffle.
  9. Install the air baffle bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING  .
  12. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
