Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important:  The rear wheel speed sensors and rings are integral with the hub and bearing assemblies.

If a speed sensor or a ring needs replacement, replace the entire hub and bearing assembly. Refer to REAR WHEEL BEARING/HUB REPLACEMENT (FWD -- DRUM) in Rear Suspension.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable hoist.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly.

  3. Remove the rear wheel speed sensor electrical connector located next to the rear strut.
  4. Remove the hub and bearing assembly (1). Refer to REAR WHEEL BEARING/HUB REPLACEMENT (FWD -- DRUM) in Rear Suspension.
