Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING  .
  2. Remove the evaporator tube nut from the evaporator.
  3. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the evaporator.
  4. Remove the evaporator tube nut from the auxiliary A/C tube, if equipped.
  5. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the auxiliary A/C tube, if equipped.

  6. Remove the right park/turn signal lamp. Refer to PARK/TURN SIGNAL LAMP REPLACEMENT (EXCEPT AVALANCHE) or PARK/TURN SIGNAL LAMP REPLACEMENT (AVALANCHE) in Lighting Systems.
  7. Remove the grille from the vehicle. Refer to GRILLE REPLACEMENT (CADILLAC) or GRILLE REPLACEMENT (AVALANCHE) in Exterior Trim.
  8. Remove the evaporator tube nut from the condenser.
  9. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the condenser.
  10. Remove the evaporator tube from the vehicle.
  11. Discard all of the used sealing washers. Cap all of the open connections.
