Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Important: If replacing the accumulator, add the refrigerant oil to the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities, See Refrigerant System Capacities for system capacity information.
- Install the O-ring seals. Refer to O-RING REPLACEMENT .
- Install the retaining bracket (6) to the accumulator.NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the retaining bracket bolt (5).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install the accumulator (3).
- Install the accumulator bracket nut (4).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Install the nut (2) to the evaporator fitting.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
- Install the compressor hose to the accumulator.
- Install the compressor hose nut to the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the A/C low pressure switch.
- Install the nut to the evaporator tube (3).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Install the evaporator tube to the evaporator.
- Install the evaporator tube nut to the evaporator.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
- Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING .
- Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
