Removal Procedure

- Raise the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the brake caliper. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the axle shaft. Refer to REAR AXLE SHAFT AND/OR GASKET REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the axle nut retaining ring.
- Remove the key.
- Remove the adjusting nut using the J 2222-C.
- Remove the adjusting nut.
- Remove the hub from the axle housing.
- Remove the rotor, if necessary. Refer to REMOVAL (REAR -- ALL WITH 4-WHEEL STEERING) or REMOVAL (REAR -- WITHOUT DUAL WHEELS & 4-WHEEL) in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the oil seal from the wheel hub using a suitable seal removal tool.
- Remove the inner hub bearing.
- Remove the inner hub bearing cup using a brass drift and a hammer.
- Remove the retaining ring from the wheel hub.
- Remove the outer hub bearing and bearing cup using the J 24426 (2) and the J 8092 (1).
