Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the upper radiator baffle. Refer to RADIATOR AIR BAFFLE AND DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT -- UPPER in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY OR HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT (EXCEPT AVALANCHE) or HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY OR HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT (AVALANCHE) or HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY OR HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT (CADILLAC) or HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY OR HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT (HID) in Lighting Systems.
  4. Remove the upper condenser mounting bolts.

  5. Remove the bolts from the front end diagonal brace.
  6. Remove the front end diagonal brace.
  7. Remove the fan shroud. Refer to FAN SHROUD REPLACEMENT - LOWER and FAN SHROUD REPLACEMENT - UPPER (W/O M74) or FAN SHROUD REPLACEMENT - UPPER (W/M74) in ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM .

  8. Remove the tie bar to radiator brace bolts (1). Access the bolts from the rear of the upper radiator support using an extension.

  9. Remove the radiator mounting bolts from the rear side of the tie bar.

  10. Remove the tie bar bolts.

  11. Remove the upper headlamp housing support screws.
  12. Remove the tie bar.
