Removal Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Important: If the cable is broken, release the hood by pressing the latch tab on the left side of the lock in assembly. Use a rod to press the latch tab.
- Lift the hood.
- Remove the left hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - HINGE PILLAR in Interior Trim.
- Remove the cable handle underneath the instrument panel (IP).
- Remove the cable end from the handle.
- 4.1. Use needle nose pliers in order to squeeze the tabs in order to remove the cable end from the hood latch assembly.
- 4.2. Lift the cable from the lock.
- Pull the cable in toward the cable handle through the hole in the cowl.
- Detach the cable from the retainer clips.
- Disconnect the cable end from the hood latch assembly.
- 7.1. Use needle nose pliers to squeeze the tabs in order to remove the cable end from the handle.
- 7.2. Lift the cable from the lock.
