Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the bumper filler from the vehicle.
- Install the fasteners securing the filler panel to the headlamp bracket and the radiator support.NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
- Tighten the filler panel to the headlamp bracket and the radiator support to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Install the fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (EXCEPT Z71) or FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (Z-71) in Lighting Systems.
- Install the air deflector to the bumper if necessary. Refer to AIR DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER FASCIA .
- Position the front bumper assembly on the vehicle.
Important: Tighten the bolts in the following sequence.
- Install the retaining bolts (1, 2) to the front bumper.
Tighten
- 6.1. Tighten the bracket bolt (1) to 85 N.m (63 lb ft).
- 6.2. Tighten the bracket bolt (2) to 85 N.m (63 lb ft).
- 6.3. Tighten the brace bolt to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the fog lamps, if equipped.
- Install the front grille. Refer to GRILLE REPLACEMENT (CADILLAC) or GRILLE REPLACEMENT (AVALANCHE) in Exterior Trim.
