All Models Except Prizm & Pickups With Passenger Air Bag

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 114 other vehicles, including the 2000 Saturn SW2, 2000 Saturn SL2, 2000 Saturn SL1, 2000 Saturn SL, and 2000 Saturn SC2. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Turn ignition switch from OFF to ON or RUN position. AIR BAG warning light should flash 7 times and then turn off.

The following AIR BAG warning light conditions indicate possible SIR system faults.

SIR system faults are usually due to a disconnected/loose electrical connector caused by previous service on vehicle. Always check all Yellow SIR connectors for loose connections or damage. Yellow SIR connectors are located at base of steering column, under right side of instrument panel, and side air bag and seat belt pretensioner connectors under front seats.

If all connectors are okay, and AIR BAG warning light is still not operating properly, diagnose SIR system. Repair as necessary.
