Disabling System (Camaro & Firebird)

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key.
  2. Remove AIR BAG fuse from instrument panel fuse block. Fuse block is behind cover on far left end of instrument panel. Wait 10 minutes. Remove insulator panel from under lower left side of instrument panel. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip, and disconnect driver 2-pin Yellow SIR connector at base of steering column.
  3. Remove insulator panel from under lower right side of instrument panel. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip, and disconnect passenger 2-pin Yellow SIR connector. See Fig 1.
