Disabling System (Crown Victoria & Grand Marquis)

  1. Record preset radio frequencies for reprogramming, if equipped. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute for backup power supply to deplete stored energy.
  2. Remove driver air bag module. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Connect appropriate air bag simulator to clockspring connector at top of steering column, in place of air bag. See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
  3. Open glove box. Push in on 2 glove box door tabs and rotate downward. Disconnect passenger air bag module electrical connector. Connect appropriate air bag simulator to passenger air bag vehicle harness connector, in place of air bag. See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
    4. WARNING: If vehicle is equipped with side air bags, manufacturer recommends removing front seats (with side air bag modules) before performing electrical diagnosis on air bag system. Seats may be left in vehicle if diagnostics are NOT being performed on side air bag system and, air bag simulator is installed in place of side air bag harness.
  4. Disconnect driver side air bag electrical connector. Side air bag connectors are located under front seats. Connect an air bag simulator to connector. See AIR BAG SIMULATOR . Repeat for passenger's side air bag. Connect negative battery cable.
