Crankshaft Balancer Installation

Tools Required
- J 29113 Crankshaft Balancer Installer
- J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter
- Apply sealer GM P/N United States 12345739, GM P/N Canada 10953541 or the equivalent to the keyway of the crankshaft balancer.
- Place the crankshaft balancer into position over the key in the crankshaft.
- Install the J 29113 onto the crankshaft.
- Pull the crankshaft balancer into position.
- Remove the J 29113 from the crankshaft balancer.
CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.CAUTION: Do not use a power-assisted tool with the special tool in order to remove and/or install this component. To ensure proper removal and/or installation of this component it is important to control the alignment process. The use of a power-assisted tool with the special tool does not allow the alignment process to be controlled properly. Improper alignment can lead to damage to the components that are being serviced.
- Install the crankshaft balancer washer and bolt.
Tighten
- Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt a first pass to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).
- Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt a final pass to 85 degrees using the J 36660-A.
