Removal Procedure

Remove the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement .
Place the #1 piston at top dead center (#4 firing position).
Align the mark on the camshaft sprocket (4) with the timing mark on the bottom of the timing chain dampener (1).

Remove the camshaft sprocket bolt.
Remove the camshaft sprocket (4).
Remove the timing chain (3).

Remove timing chain dampener.

Important: If the sprocket does not remove easily, lightly knock the lower edge of the sprocket using a plastic mallet in order to dislodge the sprocket.
Remove the crankshaft sprocket using the J 5825-A.
