Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important: Remove any twists in the seat belt webbing before final assembly.

Install the seat belt retractor assembly.

Insert the top of the retractor into the mounting slots and pull downward.
CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
Install the seat belt retractor bolt.
Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

Install the seat belt guide clip. Ensure that the unit locks into position.

Install the shoulder belt guide.
Install the shoulder belt guide bolt.
Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

Install the seat belt anchor bolt.
Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

Install the shoulder belt guide cover.
Inspect the seat belt assembly for proper operation. Refer to Operational and Functional Checks .
Install the trim panel to the lower center pillar. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LOWER CENTER PILLAR .
