Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery into the battery tray.
    CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the battery hold-down retainer and bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the battery hold-down retainer bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  3. Connect the auxiliary battery positive and negative cables to the battery.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the auxiliary battery cables to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Connect the battery negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
