Timing Chain and Sprockets Removal

J 42846 Crankshaft Protector Button
- Measure the camshaft timing chain free play. If the chain can be moved back and forth in excess of 16 mm (0.625 in), make a note that the camshaft timing chain and the sprockets must be replaced during assembly.
- Remove the camshaft sprocket bolts.
- Remove the camshaft sprocket and the camshaft timing chain.
- Install the J 42846 (1) into the end of the crankshaft.
- Remove the crankshaft sprocket using a suitable three jaw puller (2).
