Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cables.
- Remove the instrument panel trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper .
- Remove the following components, depending on how the vehicle is equipped:
- The I/P cupholder cover, shown
- The I/P cupholder. Refer to Cupholder Replacement (Except Pro) or Cupholder Replacement (Pro) .
- The floor console extension. Refer to Console Replacement (Luxury Console) , Console Replacement (Base Console) or Console Replacement (Pro) .
- Remove the data link connector (DLC) (1) from the I/P assembly.
- Remove the driver side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Non-Luxury) or Knee Bolster Replacement (Luxury) .
- Remove the lower I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Lower .
- Remove the passenger side air bag module. Refer to PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG DISABLE SWITCH .
- Remove the knee bolster deflector.
- Remove the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
- Disconnect the body control module (BCM) (1) from the bracket.
- Pull out the left side accessory switch bracket (1).
- Disconnect the electrical connections.
- Remove the I/P Cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
- Remove the radio. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the HVAC control assembly. Refer to HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .
- Pull out the right side accessory switch housing.
- Disconnect the electrical connection from the right side accessory switch
- Unbolt the I/P upper brackets. Disconnect the wiring harness from the right upper bracket.
- Disconnect the following electrical components as necessary from the I/P assembly:
- The remote control door lock receiver, if equipped with remote keyless entry
- The I/P wiring harness junction block
- The right side courtesy lamp
- The I/P cluster lead-Unclip the component from the I/P assembly
- Disconnect the parking brake release handle from the I/P assembly. Refer to PARK BRAKE RELEASE HANDLE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .
- Disconnect the following electrical components:
- The automatic transfer case module (1), if equipped
- The fuse block from the bracket
- The body wiring harness junction block from the bracket
- The left side courtesy lamp
- Remove the nuts (4) and screw (3) holding the I/P assembly (I/P) (2) to the I/P carrier support (1).
- Remove the cross air duct.
- Remove the I/P center support bracket bezel (1).
Important: Remove all of the parts of the I/P carrier assembly from the vehicle as one unit.
- Remove the I/P center support bracket bolt.
- Remove the I/P carrier side bolts. The left side is shown, the right side is similar.
- Remove the I/P carrier top bolts (1).
- Remove the I/P carrier (1) from the vehicle.
