Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra and 2002 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The normally open stoplamp switch indicates brake pedal status to the PCM. Applying the brake pedal closes the switch, supplying voltage to the PCM. Releasing the brake pedal interrupts voltage to the PCM.

If the PCM detects a closed stoplamp switch (stuck on) during accelerations, then DTC P0724 sets. DTC P0724 is a type "C" DTC.
