Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Sierra, 2002 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2002 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the rear brake hose
  2. Install the junction block retaining bolt to the axle. Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
  3. Uncap or unplug the rear brake pipes and connect the pipes to the junction block on the axle. Tighten the fitting to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

    Important:  The hose must not be twisted. Make sure the hose is not in contact with any suspension component.

  4. Install the brake hose into the bracket.
  5. Install the jounce hose retaining clip.
  6. Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake pipe fitting end.
  7. Connect the brake pipe fitting nut to the brake hose:
    • Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting.
    • Do not bend the bracket or the pipe.

    Tighten the fitting to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  8. Ensure that the hose does not make contact with any part of the suspension. If the hose makes contact remove the hose and correct the condition.
  9. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)  or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure)  .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
