Washers Always On

Washers Always On

Step Action Yes No
Schematic Reference:  Wiper/Washer System Schematics  
1 Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections? Go to Step 2  Go to Symptoms - Wiper/Washer Systems 
2 Turn the ignition ON.
Are the windshield washers always on?
Go to Step 3  Go to TESTING FOR INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTIONS

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the inline harness connector C201.
  3. Remove the connector terminal row E from steering column harness connector half.
  4. Connect the inline harness connector C201.
  5. Turn the ignition ON.
Are the windshield washers always on?
Go to Step 4  Go to Step 5 
4 Repair the windshield washer pump control circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to CIRCUIT TESTING and WIRING REPAIRS .
Is the repair complete?
Go to Step 6  -
5 Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to MULTIFUNCTION, TURN SIGNAL, AND HAZARD SWITCH REPLACEMENT - ON VEHICLE .
Is the repair complete?
Go to Step 6  -
6 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 3
