Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L Engines)  or Starter Motor Replacement (8.1L Engine) .
  2. If equipped with a 4.8L, 5.3L, or 6.0L engine, remove the starter heat shield.

  4. If equipped with a 8.1L engine, remove the starter heat shield bolts, and nut.
  5. Remove the starter heat shield.
