Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

IMPORTANT: Install the auxiliary negative battery cable terminal behind the engine wiring harness ground terminal.

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .

If equipped with a 8.1L engine, install the auxiliary negative battery cable.
Install the engine wiring harness/auxiliary negative battery cable bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the engine wiring harness/auxiliary negative battery cable bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

IMPORTANT: Install the engine wiring harness ground terminal on top of and inboard of the auxiliary negative battery cable ground crimp.

If equipped with a 4.8L, 5.3L, or 6.0L engine, install the auxiliary negative battery cable.
Install the engine wiring harness/auxiliary negative battery cable bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the engine wiring harness/auxiliary negative battery cable bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
Install the engine sight shield. Refer to ENGINE SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (4.8L, 5.3L, or ENGINE SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (6.0L (LQ9)) .

Install the auxiliary battery cable clips to the studs at the front of dash.
Connect the auxiliary negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Auxiliary Battery) .
