Conditions for Setting the DTC

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Sierra, 2002 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2002 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The system test the motor circuits:

  1. The system checks for unwanted voltage.
  2. The system supplies voltage on each of the motor circuits and reads the voltage back on the other circuit.
  3. After the system checks for opens and shorts on the motor circuits, the system applies voltage through the motor and back to the module to ground.
  4. If the system detects a high voltage on the ground circuit, the DTC is logged.
