Luggage Compartment Description and Operation (General)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The trunk release system contains the following components:
- The fuel door/trunk release switch
- The driver's door switch
- The driver's door module (DDM)
- The rear integration module (RIM)
- The rear fuse block
- The trunk release relay
- The rear compartment lid release actuator
- The valet switch
The RIM operates the relays when it receives a class 2 message from the DDM. The RIM will then verify that the vehicle is in park before releasing either system.
The valet switch is used as a manual override for the system and must be closed in order for the release systems to work properly.
