Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Buick Regal and 2002 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  2. Remove the sunshade retainers (3). Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .

  4. Disconnect the electric connectors to the rear view mirror and to the front antenna.
  5. Remove the power sunroof switch, if equipped. Refer to SUNROOF SWITCH REPLACEMENT .
  6. Remove the dome lamp, if equipped. Refer to DOME LAMP REPLACEMENT .
  7. Remove the coat hooks. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  8. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement - Front  and to Assist Handle Replacement - Rear  .
  9. Remove the side upper garnish molding from the windshield. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar .
  10. Remove the upper quarter trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper .
  11. Pull down on the door opening weatherstrip seal on both the front and the rear doors.
  12. Remove the rear window trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Window Shelf .
  13. Disconnect the headliner electrical harness connector, located behind the right rear speaker.
  14. Disconnect the OnStar® electrical connector, if equipped.
  15. Disconnect the headliner electrical harness and the antenna lead, located behind the left rear speaker.
  16. Use J 38778  in order to remove the rear retainers (2). See Fig 1.
  17. Rotate the right front seatback to a horizontal position.
  18. Remove the headliner (1) from the vehicle through the right front door. See Fig 1.
