Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Description and Operation: Odometer

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora and 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The IPC contains a season odometer and 2 trip odometers. A momentary press of the trip/reset switch on the IPC toggles the odometer between the season odometer and the trip odometer. A momentary press of the trip A/B switch while the trip odometer is displayed toggles the trip odometer between trip A and trip B. If the trip/reset button is pressed for greater than 1 second while either the trip A odometer or the trip B odometer is displayed, that trip odometer resets to 0.

The IPC calculates the mileage based on the vehicle speed signal circuit from the PCM. The odometer displays either miles or kilometers as requested by the driver information center (DIC). The associated indicator (km or mi) illuminates.
