Thermostat Housing Cover: Inspection

  1. If required, remove thermostat cover bolts. Remove thermostat cover. Remove thermostats with seals. Remove thermostat seals. Remove ECT sensor if replacing thermostat housing crossover.
  2. Clean the water crossover. Clean thermostat housing crossover mating surfaces. Inspect thermostat housing crossover for cracks. Inspect thermostat housing crossover mating surfaces for damage. Replace thermostat housing crossover if any damage is found.
  3. Install thermostats with seals. The thermostat with vent valves goes toward rear of engine. Install with vent valves towards rear of engine. Install thermostat cover and gasket. Install thermostat cover bolts. If removed, install ECT sensor.
