Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Buick Regal and 2002 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the black rubber height adjustment bumpers.
  2. Position the new rear compartment lid to the hinges, with an assistant.
  3. Position the hinge to the alignment marks on the rear compartment lid.
  4. Install the nuts to the rear compartment hinges.

    Do not torque the nuts until after the lid has been aligned.

    Important:  When installing new a compartment lid, use mechanics wire to pull the wire harness into position.

  6. Pull the harness through the rear compartment lid.
  7. Connect the electrical connectors to the electrical components on the rear compartment lid.
  8. Install the latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid .
  9. Install the wiring harness. Refer to Wiring Harness Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid .
  10. Install the compartment lid applique. Refer to Compartment Lid Applique Replacement - Rear .
  11. Install the key lock cylinder. Refer to Lock Cylinder Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid .
  12. Remove the protective coverings.
  13. Adjust the rear compartment lid if required. Using an Allen wrench, adjust the height adjustment bumper at front of the hinge.
  14. Adjust the rear compartment lid if required, for uniform fit.
  15. Adjust the rear compartment height by turning the black rubber overslam bumpers by hand.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  16. Tighten the nuts to the rear compartment hinges. Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  17. Close the rear compartment.
