Installation Procedure

Place the retainer and a NEW exhaust manifold crossover seal over the left exhaust manifold.
Position a NEW exhaust manifold gasket between the left exhaust manifold and the left cylinder head.
Insert the left exhaust manifold into the crossover pipe from the right exhaust manifold and up to the left cylinder head.
CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
Install the left exhaust manifold bolts.
Tighten

Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts to 25 N.m (18 ft lbs).

Install the two bolts attaching the left exhaust manifold to the right exhaust manifold crossover.
Tighten

Tighten the exhaust manifold crossover bolts to 25 N.m (18 ft lbs).

Position the exhaust manifold heat shield to the left exhaust manifold.
Install the bolts attaching exhaust manifold heat shield to the left exhaust manifold.
Tighten

Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts to 9 N.m (80 in lbs).

Install the oil level indicator and tube. Refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE REPLACEMENT .
Install the engine cooling fans. Refer to COOLING FAN REPLACEMENT - ELECTRIC (LX5) or COOLING FAN REPLACEMENT - ELECTRIC (L47) .
